WOMAD 2022

Posted by Carly Williams on 10 March 2022 | Tags: , , ,

WOMAD is a 4 day festival of music, arts and dance celebrating cultural and creative diversity. It has been held in Adelaide's beautiful Botanic park since 1992 and will continue this year.

Every year approximately 600 artists from 30+ countries come to perform on WOMADS 7 or 8 stages. Performances range from small intimate acts to major acts on big stages with large crowds. There is also large scale instillation works, lively discussion panels, cooking demonstrations, workshops and many other interesting and engaging cultural experiences.

This year's epic music lineup has headlining acts such as Paul Kelly, The Cat Empire, Baker Boy, Courtney Barnett, Motez and loads more!

There really is something for everyone with the global village featuring over 100 international foods, retail and community stalls and the healing village provides a range of relaxation, remedial and alternative therapies. There is also a kids zone dedicated to nature-play activities, stories, singing, dancing and educational entertainment.

WOMAD makes sure that it is mindful of the range of issues affecting people and cultures from around the globe by adapting a strong environmental awareness strategy and working with greening Australia to invest $2 from every ticket sold to native biodiverse tree plantings. They also have a sustainable waste management plan throughout the whole festival with the ongoing development of a zero-waste-to-landfill policy.
