Another long weekend, another plethora of things to see and do in Adelaide and Glenelg. Locally, the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club is hosting the IRB championships for 2011. The Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) is the work-horse of Australian surf life saving clubs. Since its introduction into surf rescue in the 1970s, it has revolutionized rescue procedures on our beaches, and consequently, has been involved in saving many lives.
