Rolling Stones concert cancelled, but still plenty to see and do in Adelaide

Posted by Craig Leverenz on 19 March 2014

The Rolling Stones concert, scheduled to open the new Adelaide Oval this Saturday, has been cancelled today, following the death of Mick Jagger's partner, L'Wren Scott. Organisers are looking to reschedule the concert for later in the year, after the Football season has finished. Acommodation in Adelaide was a sell out for the event, which would have seen just under 50,000 fans pack the new Adelaide Oval stadium for the arena spectacular. It would be advised that ticket holders get in early to book their accommodation once the rescheduled date is announced, as it's likely to sell out once again. Glenelg is a perfect spot to stay for events in Adelaide – you can catch the tram to the Adelaide Oval and avoid parking problems or taxi costs. For the rest of your stay you can enjoy the many pleasures of Glenelg and the coast.

If you have already booked accommodation for the cancelled concert, why not come anyway and enjoy a relaxed weekend here in Adelaide.

The weather is going to be a beautiful 24 degrees on Saturday and there is always something to do.  Why not check Walking SA to get some exercise at the same time as sight-seeing.  From Glenelg there is a great walk along the coast to Hallett Cove via the Marion Coastal Walking Trail.

If you have a vehicle, you could discover the hidden secrets of Battunga Country in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Theres plenty to see and do in the region; you could explore old mines and fossick for gold at Jupiter Creek, visit the Echunga Market, experience the life of our early pioneers at the Prospect Hill Historical Museum, try your hand at Paintball Sports, or just relax and sample a few wines at the K1 Winery at Kuitpo, ranked as one of Australia's top ten cellar door experiences

Come and enjoy Adelaide and South Australia this weekend.
