A Busy December at the Bay

We have been spoilt with some fantastic weather this so far this month around Adelaide – a great start to summer.

The Ashes Second Test at Adelaide Oval saw one of the highest attendances on record. Despite all the support for the Aussies after the draw in the first Test, England took the first win.

On Sunday December 12, the annual Toy Run left Glenelg with around 15,000 motorcyclists who cruised up to Hahndorf with about a quarter of a million dollars of toys to donate to the St Vincent de Paul Society. One of our staff, a keen motorcyclist, joined in the convoy and reported that it was a fantastic day with a great atmosphere as always. Roads lined with spectators, perfect weather, food and entertainment upon arrival at Hahndorf oval – and all for a good cause.

In the Days following the Christmas weekend is the 124th annual Bay Sheffield Carnival. Colley Reserve is the venue, but you will see athletes spread all around the grassy areas of Glenelg near the Marina while they warm up for their events. The Bay Sheffield is always one of the best examples of Glenelg during summer – a great family atmosphere and fun in the sun set in picturesque surrounds.

Don’t forget New Years Eve at the Bay! Holdfast Council is having not one but two fireworks shows at Glenelg of the Jetty – one at 9:30pm for the kids, and the other at Midnight. Entertainment in Moseley Square kicks off from 8:30pm.
